The Winner Is….

Mothers Day

Mothers Day

The winner is…ME. Not of my Contest, that winner is listed below, but I won Mother’s Day. John, my husband, has a saying for a perfect day. When we were on a vacation in the Caribbean, after snorkeling, sailing, eating, drinking, he proclaimed, “We won this day.” When the day is the prize, everyone goes home a champ. Well, I won Mother’s Day this year.

My kids appeared at 8:15, a whole two hours after I usually wake up, on my bed. Each one gave me a homemade card and other sentiments. Paige’s poem made me cry. Graham’s gift of “the biggest hug” was sweet. And JP’s coupon book touched me. The coupon shown in the pic says, “Get me off TV, video games or computer and help you with laundry.” That is a gift.

After a Starbucks we worshiped and enjoyed fellowship with friends. Then, with the backdrop of a gorgeous spring day, I planted the pots for the deck. Later, with the sun setting off the refreshed deck, we enjoyed dinner with John’s parents. Since cupcakes are the new “in” dessert, I decided to be Martha-ish and make ultra rich chocolate cupcakes. JP proclaimed, “This is what they would serve in Heaven.” So I didn’t get a cool basket, but I won the day.

And the winner of the Mother’s Day basket is….#24 Laura at My Quotidian Mysteries. She has an awesome blog and I’m thrilled that Paige, my oldest, picked your number out of a bowl. Thanks to everyone for visiting. Check back later this week…I’ll be giving an update on my book.

I hope you won your day…if not, there’ll be a new one tomorrow.
